Hey peeps!

Hi All,

I am Leslie and I am a part-time PHD student. This is my first semester and very first class today! I am a bit nervous about starting this as it seems like a big committment but I guess we will just see what happens....

My proposed research area is on international higher education--I would like to explore the concept of the "International University Hub in Asia" that the HKSAR Government is intent on developing and use HKU as a case-study for how a university is able to become more "international." I intend to also look at how having international students stay in Hong Kong post-graduation can serve as a benefit to Hong Kong's economic and political development. It is a bit problematic though because I have some reservations about this topic--I would actually like to explore some other areas that might be less focused on higher education and more looking at secondary schools in Hong Kong. We will just have to see!
